Alison Moore is a health policy educator for the Tobacco Law Center, specifically assisting WorkSHIFTS on a three-year collaborative study regarding tobacco cessation coverage provided to union members in Minnesota. The goals of this research are to increase the availability of and access to tobacco cessation benefits in health care plans serving blue-collar and service workers. Research partners include the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health, Division of Epidemiology and Community Health, the Minnesota Laborers, UNITE-HERE Minnesota and United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 789.
Before joining the Tobacco Law Center, Alison served as Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador with an emphasis on health education and worked as a community organizer in a predominantly Latino immigrant community in Chicago. She also has worked for Health Alliance International as a program evaluator on a maternal and child health project in Timor-Leste. Alison completed her graduate studies in public health in Community-Oriented Public Health Practice at the University of Washington in Seattle.
